Syresham Parish Council Serving the people of Syresham

The Pocket Park is situated just outside Syresham, off Main Road at Kingshill layby. It is managed by Syresham Parish Council.

The park was created in 2007 to provide a conservation area in our community, to attract wildlife and to provide an open space for residents and local groups to enjoy.

The area has several habitats including a woodland walk and a meadow. The park is also bounded on two sides by water; a tributary of the River Ouse and a stream. A pond also provides an important habitat.

2020 Renovation Project

Over the years the original benches, paths and steps became worn or damaged and the vegetation reclaimed the paths. In the spring of 2020 the Parish Council were informed that it had been successful in its application to MHCLG for a Pocket Park grant, which enabled us to fully renovate the park.

The renovations included the renewal of the access steps, repairs to the river pontoon, replacement benches and picnic tables, new gravel path, planting of spring bulbs, installation of water safety equipment, the construction of a pond dipping deck and a new updated information board.

The Scouts have also been busy helping by making bird and bat boxes, making frog homes and litterpicking.

The Wildlife Trust has also carried out a survey in the park and has sent a report to help the Parish Council make further plans for improving the site.

If you would be interested in joining in regular Pocket Park working parties to help look after this wonderful little park, please contact the parish clerk with your details and we'll be in touch.
