The Syresham Climate Change & Environment Committee was formed in January 2022 to look at the way that we as a parish can respond to the important issues of global warming and environmental protection.
We started out by arranging a Climate Change Fair in Autumn 2022 in order to increase local awareness of the issue. We were very encouraged by the level of interest shown and were delighted with the involvement of the children of Syresham Primary School who designed superb posters and put forward their own ideas of how we can tackle these problems.
The CCE Committee is now building its plan of action for the coming year and beyond and will be implementing some of the ideas put forward by residents of the parish. We will also be holding another Climate Change Fair in the Village Hall on Friday 22nd September 2023 (11am-6pm) and would love to see you there.
The CCE Committee intends to build information and links to useful organisations on this website, so please keep revisiting.
If you have any suggestions you would like the CCE Committee to consider, then please send them to the Parish Clerk. email: parishclerk@syresham.com

No Mow May
Plantlife's #NoMowMay is back, blooming better than ever! You are invited to once again be 'doing nothing for nature' and locking up your lawnmowers starting on the 1 May to let the wildflowers in your lawn to bloom, providing a feast for nectar-hungry bees, butterflies and more.
Syresham Parish Council is taking part in No Mow May - except for the cemetery, Swingfield and war memorial areas, all other green areas mown by the Parish Council contractors will not be mown in May.
Long grass and wildflowers benefit wildlife, tackle pollution and can even lock away carbon below ground.
We've lost nearly 97% of flower rich meadows since the 1970's and with them gone so is the vital food needed by pollinators, like bees and butterflies.
Even the smallest grassy patches add up to a significant proportion of our land that have the potential to deliver enormous gains for nature, communities and the climate. This is why Plantlife is calling for people to get involved with #NoMowMay and let wild plants get a head start on the summer.
PLEASE JOIN IN and consider putting the mower away in May, leaving lawns to nature for the month. For more information please visit: https://www.plantlife.org.uk/campaigns/nomowmay/
